Longtime Woodland Park judge announces retirement

A longtime civil servant for the city of Woodland Park will be stepping down after decades on the bench of the municipal court.

Judge John Bruce first joined the Woodland Park Municipal Court in 1982, and he announced his retirement after 36 years Tuesday.

Bruce was born in Manitou Springs and also served as a municipal judge in Green Mountain Falls and the city of Victor.

A celebration will take place to honor Bruce’s career at 6 p.m. on June 7 at Woodland Park City Council Chambers.
