Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Warm Again – 5/6/18

Today: Becoming partly cloudy with a chance for spotty showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. If storms develop today they won’t be strong, and at best they’ll cover about 10% to 20% of mainly mountain areas around the Pikes Peak Region, but some areas could briefly receive downpours, lightning and brief wind gusts. We’ll be breezy at times this afternoon as well, but still warm with high temperatures in the 70s and 80s for the plains, mainly 60s for the mountains.

Tonight: Any evening showers and thunderstorms will end, then as some cooler air settles in areas of low cloud cover and patchy fog may develop over the plains. We expect low temperatures in the 40s to near 50 for the plains, 30s and 40s over the mountains.

Extended: Drier air will begin to move over the mountains Monday morning which should clear out any low clouds that may have developed. Enough water may remain over parts of eastern Colorado for isolated thunderstorms to develop, but again, we aren’t expecting much rain across the area. Tuesday through Thursday look warm and mostly dry although a weak shower or 2 could pop up over the mountains during the afternoon hours. Another cold front might bring more areas a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms by the end of the week. Next weekend looks cooler and wetter for many areas.
