Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Warm Weekend Ahead – 5/5/18

Today: Mostly sunny this morning, some clouds will develop this afternoon, especially over the mountains, but we don’t expect much chance for rain. Expect a light breeze during the afternoon with high temperatures reaching the 70s and 80s the plains, 50s and 60s for the mountains.

Tonight: Becoming mostly clear and mild with low temperatures in the 40s for the plains, 30s over the mountains.

Extended: A weak cold front will kick up the wind and bring isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms to some areas Sunday afternoon and evening. Over the Pikes Peak Region showers and thunderstorms are expected to occur at about a 20% to 30% coverage, other areas will probably have lower chances for rain. We still expect Sunday will be warm with high temperatures in the 70s to near 80 for the plains, mainly 60s over the mountains. Areas of low cloud cover and patchy fog will probably develop over the plains Sunday night into early Monday. Drier air will begin to move over the mountains Monday morning which should clear out the low clouds, but the air should be a little cooler for some areas. Enough water may remain over parts of eastern Colorado for isolated thunderstorms to develop again over mainly the plains. Isolated thunderstorms over the eastern plains could be strong late Monday. Tuesday through Thursday look warm and mostly dry although a weak shower or 2 could pop up over the mountains during the afternoon hours. Another cold front might bring more areas a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms by the end of the week.
