Man falls asleep in stolen car, backs into police car

A man fell asleep in a stolen car and as he was waking up he reversed into a police car.

CSPD was called to a suspicious vehicle on Jet Wing Drive near Astrozon and Academy Thursday. When the officer arrived he parked his car behind the vehicle. While the officer was getting emergency equipment ready he noticed a man asleep in the car. The man woke up and put the car reverse and backed into the police car.

The investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from South Dakota. The driver was charged with aggravated motor vehicle theft, identity theft and driving under the influence.
