Kitten rescued from air duct in Colorado Springs reunited with family
Cats are notorious for being rescued from trees, but a Colorado Springs kitten was rescued from a more unusual space — an air duct.
The two-day-old kitten is now down from eight to nine lives after being rescued from an air duct in a wall on Tuesday. It’s also the only gray kitten in a litter of four black ones.
Melanie Gomez has had the mom cat, Nebula, for a year now and says she is always getting into odd places.
“She decided to have her babies in the air ducts,” she said.
Gomez says a day after the kittens were born, Nebula brought three of them out. But it still took Gomez a while to realize there was a fourth kitten.
“We could still hear one of them crying,” Gomez said.
She says she quickly began searching for help and found Home Heating Service Inc. They had a representative at the home in less than 20 minutes.
Using a thermal sensor, they were able to spot the area the kitten was in and safely reunited it with its family.
Although the call is unusual, the company says it’s not completely uncommon.
Gomez says she plans on keeping the kitten that was left behind and plans to give the others away to friends and family in the area.
