Recovery crews search for missing people in Lake Pueblo
UPDATE: Crews have stopped the rescue operations and have transitioned into a recovery effort Tuesday morning.
Investigators confirm there could be as many as three people in the water.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department Dive Team is assisting in search efforts. Crews have continued using sonar technology to find promising areas to search.
“I just feel bad for those people, it’s a shame something like that happened,” said Bob Giordano, a fisherman that frequents the lake.
It’s unclear if anyone in the group was wearing a life jacket. Under Colorado law, life vests are expected to be in the boat, but not required to wear.
Previous story:
Rangers with the Lake Pueblo State Park are investigating a possible drowning in the lake. The Park rangers received a call Monday afternoon from some shore fisherman who saw a boat go down in the water.
It is unclear how many people were on the boat. No one has been seen since the boat went down.
Rangers, boat patrol, Flight for Life and a dive team are on the scene.
