High fire danger today – 4/30/18

TODAY: We will see a mostly sunny sky around the southern half of the state today and some pretty warm highs in the 70s to near 80. Mountain cities will be in the 60s today. The fire danger remains high due to the dry fuels, low relative humidity and the gusty winds to near 40 this afternoon. A red flag warning is in place for much of southern and eastern Colorado through 9PM tonight. Please exercise fire prevention this afternoon and evening.

TONIGHT: We will be partly cloudy tonight and our lows cool into the 30s and 40s. Winds will also die down.

EXTENDED: The fire danger becomes less and less over the coming days due to increasing shower chances and cooler higher. Our best bet for some wet weather looks to be Wednesday into Thursday. In fact, some of our mountain cities could see snow developing Wednesday night. Things dry out by Friday and we warm up and clear out through the weekend.
