Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Fire Weather Returns – 4/29/18
Today: Partly cloudy and warm again today with increasing wind. Afternoon wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, and wind gusts could reach 35 mph at times. Low level moisture may fire isolated thunderstorms over the far southeastern plains where localized downpours, gusty wind, frequent lightning and small hail are possible, but the rest of the area should remain dry, and the combination of warmth, wind, and dry conditions has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning for much of the area. High temperatures will reach the 70s & 80s again for the plains, 50s & 60s for the mountains.
Tonight: Partly cloudy and mild with low temperatures in the 40s for most areas.
Extended: The wind will increase another notch on Monday increasing fire weather concerns over more areas. Colder air should move over the area on Tuesday, and the rest of the week looks a bit unsettled with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible each day. While the end of the week doesn’t look to be a complete washout for anyone, Thursday stands out as a day that the precipitation might be a bit more widespread.
