Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Warm Weekend Ahead! – 4/28/18

Today: Partly cloudy this morning, increasing clouds with isolated showers and thunderstorms developing primarily over and near the mountains this afternoon. We expect a warm afternoon with high temperatures in the 70s & 80s for the plains, 50s & 60s for the mountains. Showers and thunderstorms are most likely to produce brief rainfall, lightning, and possibly some small hail over and near the mountains today, but we expect the showers and thunderstorms should be pretty spotty.

Tonight: We expect decreasing clouds and a light wind with low temperatures in the 40s to near 50 for the plains, 30s to lower 40s for the mountains.

Extended: Warm again on Sunday with drier air along and west of I-25. Low level moisture may remain over the far eastern plains where isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible; the strongest storms may produce bursts of heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty wind. The wind will increase the next couple of days as well, and fire weather concerns will increase through Monday. Colder air should move over the area on Tuesday, and the rest of the week looks a bit unsettled with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible each day. While the end of the week doesn’t look to be a complete washout for anyone, Thursday stands out as a day that the precipitation might be a bit more widespread.
