Tip leads deputies to an illegal marijuana grow in Peyton

County deputies conducted a raid near Peyton Road, Friday morning thanks to a tip.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Rural Enforcement Outreach Unit and SWAT team executed the search warrant that led them to more than 500 marijuana plants.

All were seized in different stages of growth and were worth more than $425,000. Antonio Lazaro Moreno and Antonio Javier Vega were both arrested without incident.

Both suspects are also accused of poaching deer and antelope.

As of the beginning of April, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and Drug Enforcement Administration have executed 10 search warrants, have seized 1,000 plants and 300 pounds of processed marijuana.
