Final steel beam hoisted onto U.S. Olympic Museum

People lined up to sign their name and be part of the historical topping ceremony.

The beam was hoisted atop the 4-story, 60,000-square-foot building.

The building will be home to the museum and the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame.

Architects say the building was designed to be accessible to any visitor, keeping the Paralympic athletes in mind.

They’re planning for construction to be done early next year, bringing an estimated 350,000 visitors a year.

Colorado Springs Mayor, John Suthers, says there are plans to build a parking garage to help accommodate the amount of tourists.
