Amber Alert Update: Girl safe, suspect found dead

4/27/18 9:25 a.m. Update: The Garfield County Sheriff’s office says that the suspect, Jody Haskin, shot himself when confronted by law enforcement officers.

Update: The Colorado Bureau of investigation has issued the following tweet regarding the Amber Alert issued Thursday out of Grand Junction: “Shortly before 10:00 p.m., law enforcement officers located Raeanna Rosencrans at the Wal-Mart in Rifle. Raeanna is in the custody of law enforcement in Rifle. She appears to be physically unharmed, but was transported to a local hospital to be checked out”.

The CBI was quick to add that the suspect, Jody Haskin, has not been located.

Law enforcement is actively searching the area in Rifle. Please see the photo below.

Authorities have issued an amber alert for Raeanna Rosencrans, 12, and identified a possible abductor Thursday.

Rosencrans is described as 5’1″, weighing 135 lbs. She was last seen in Grand Junction around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Thursday, police identified Jody Haskin as a person of interest. He’s described as a white male standing 6’3″ weighing 230 pounds. Police said Haskin is Rosencrans’ stepfather but does not have any parental rights.

Police believe the pair may no longer be in Grand Junction. Haskin also has multiple active warrants for his arrest for child sex crimes.

According to our partners at Denver7, Haskin has a history of sexual assaults, including incest and sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
