Gusty day with a few showers – 04/26/18

Today: While we stick with sunshine today, we’ll battle stronger winds. Due to a cold front that’s kicking up our gusts, we have a Wind Alert Level One in effect. That means we could get gusts between 30-45 mph. Even though this elevates fire danger, we don’t have Red Flag Warnings in effect because of our recent moisture and higher relative humidity levels today. Highs will be slightly cooler due to our cold front; temperatures will reach the 50s and 60s. A few isolated showers are possible, but most stay dry.

Tonight: Overnight, lows drop to the 20s and 30s under mostly clear skies. Winds die down. We’ll be dry into early Friday morning.

Extended: Temperatures warm up to the 60s and 70s Friday due to a lovely ridge of high pressure (high means dry!). Winds shouldn’t be a big deal tomorrow. Unfortunately, winds increasing this weekend and into the start of next week. Saturday, we have chances for a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures warm to the 70s and 80s by Sunday. On Sunday, the eastern plains could see some scattered thunderstorms, but other areas will be dry. Sunday into Monday where we don’t see showers, there will be high fire danger. Use caution! Tuesday and Wednesday, we have chances for some thunderstorms.
