2nd suspect arrested in Colorado Springs double murder

CSPD

Colorado Springs police arrested a second person for the deaths of two young people who were found shot inside a car Saturday near Lower Gold Camp Road.

Police arrested 19-year-old Marquis Dantre Hazard for first-degree murder on Tuesday. A mugshot wasn't made immediately available.

Police say Hazard and 19-year-old Nashid Rayon Rivers are responsible for killing 21-year-old Serena Lee Garcia of Parker and 20-year-old Marcus Howard Denton of Colorado Springs. Rivers was arrested on Sunday.

Police said officers were called for a disturbance around noon Saturday near 4800 Pacer Lane, and when they interviewed witnesses, they learned about a possible double shooting on the west side of the city. Officers searched a large area in the foothills but it wasn't until a call for a suspicious vehicle came in at 9:20 p.m. that they found the car on Bergamo Way.

The shootings are still under investigation.
