1 killed, 1 hurt after mobile home park shooting in Colorado Springs

One person is dead and another is hurt after a shooting on the Southeast side of Colorado Springs.

The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday night at the Canyon Ridge Mobile Home Park near the intersection of Powers Blvd. and Airport Rd.

Police tell us paramedics pronounced one woman dead at the scene. Crews took a man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

“I was scared, because they were right in front of my house,” said Jo Ellen Carrasco, who lives in the area.

Carrasco and her brother John saw all the commotion out of their window.

“Cops came racing toward our place, lights were shining and everything,” said John Steeley.

Witnesses describe gunshots that broke through a glass window killing a woman inside her car.

“I heard about 15 gunshots, it was so scary,” said Gloria Duarte, a neighbor living next door from the crime scene. “I ran with my kids to the other room… and saw the street was filled with cops.”

Investigators spent more than 10 hours collecting evidence which closed down two streets in the complex.

“This was not a random shooting, there was a connection between these individuals,” said Lt. Howard Black, with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Black reiterating this incident has no ties with the Gold Camp Road shooting from over the weekend.
