Weather Alert Day – 4/24/18
TODAY: Its a weather alert day here in Southern Colorado! Another round of spring snow will be pushing through the area with a cold front. Highs will only warm into the 30s and 40s, but wind will make it feeling much worse than that. I think snow picks up through the afternoon and into the evening. It could come down at moderate to heavy rates. Watch out for spots of reduced visibility. Bridges and overpasses could also become slick. Light accumulations will be contained to Teller County. Moderate accumulations between 2-4+” are possible in the Sangres and the Wets.
TONIGHT: Snow shifts to the south through the Sangres and the Wets. Any kind of wet or slushy roads have the potential to refreeze. I think best opportunities of seeing this happen will be on bridges and overpasses. Rural mountain roads are also likely to become icy.
EXTENDED: We dry out and become sunny tomorrow with warmer highs. Another round of showers is possible on Thursday. We’ll dry out for Friday and could see a few more storms on Saturday. Warm and dry weather is expected through Sunday into the first part of next week.
