84-year-old killed in wreck near Woodmen and Lexington

Colorado Springs police identified an 84-year-old woman who died Friday after a crash that happened Thursday near Woodmen Road and Lexington Drive.

Police say the crash happened when a Toyota Camry attempted a left turn onto Lexington when it was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Police said both vehicles had green lights, but it’s not clear if the Toyota Camry failed to yield right-of-way.

Lois Wasserman of Colorado Springs was in the front passenger seat of the Camry and was taken to a nearby hospital. She later died from her injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

Speed, drugs, and alcohol aren’t believed to be involved, police said. Criminal charges are pending the investigation.
