UPDATE: Fire at Colorado-Kansas state line 100% contained

UPDATE: The Badger Hole Fire, which started near Walsh and burned tens of thousands of acres as it crossed into Kansas, has now been contained, according to Baca County emergency Management.

No serious injuries were reported and no lives were lost. A full list of property damaged or lost is still being put together by emergency crews.

High winds helped a fire in eastern Colorado that started Tuesday build into a massive blaze that stretched across the Kansas state line Wednesday.

According to Baca County Emergency Management, the Badger Hole Fire started near Walsh and has now burned 48,415 acres. About 33,000 acres burned in Colorado while about 15,000 acres burned in Kansas. The fire was about 85 percent contained as of 4 p.m.

Baca County says more than 30 agencies from Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma have sent 120 crew members to help contain the fire.

Two first responders and one civilian have been treated for injuries. Baca County says multiple homes and other buildings have been destroyed.

The American Red Cross has a shelter set up at the Walsh Wesleyan Church. The American Legion Post #48 has been set up as an official drop point for agriculture-related donations.
