Pueblo man arrested and charged for shooting partner

Officers arrested and charged 48-year-old Brett Nelson for shooting his partner Wednesday.

Nelson is charged with shooting 49-year-old Lashawn Johnson in the torso one time. Johnson was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. It is unclear if Johnson is Nelson’s girlfriend or wife.

When police showed up to the 1100 block of Egan Avenue, Nelson was still at the scene. He was arrested on the scene and charged with attempted first-degree murder, domestic violence and felony menacing.

Nelson is being held at the Pueblo County Detention Center.
