Pueblo bicyclist flees after causing car to crash into power pole

Pueblo police say a bicyclist cut off a car and caused it to crash into a power pole Thursday afternoon, but then the bicyclist fled into a nearby park.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. when the car and bicycle were traveling toward Santa Fe Ave. and 15th Street. The bicyclist cut in front of the car, causing the car to hit the bicycle before slamming into a power pole.

Police say the person on the bike then walked off into a park and had apparent injuries. Officers were still looking for him around 3:40 p.m.

The driver of the car was taken to a hospital, but the extent of their injuries isn’t known.

Black Hills Energy arrived at the crash scene and were working to restore power.

It’s not yet clear if the bicyclist is facing criminal charges.
