Colorado lawmaker proposes naming part of I-25 after Barack Obama

Colorado lawmakers are considering renaming a section of Interstate 25 after former President Barack Obama.

Joint resolution 18-1016 would designate a stretch of the interstate that runs through the city and county of Denver after the 44th President.

Thursday, the resolution passed the House Transportation & Energy Committee with a 12-1 vote. It will next be voted on by the full Colorado House of Representatives.

If passed the Colorado Department of Transportation would explore options to mark the section of I-25 as the “Barack Obama Highway.”

A vote in the House hasn’t been scheduled yet.
