UCHealth designated southern Colorado’s first trauma center
The State of Colorado has recognized UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central as the first hospital in Southern Colorado to receive the highest classification for trauma care.
UCHealth Memorial Hospital’s new Level I Trauma Center certification makes it one of only four hospitals in the state with the highest classification for trauma care. The Center plans to give Southern Colorado residents rapid access to emergency and trauma care without having to go to Denver.
Memorial’s president and CEO, Joel Yuhas, said the new Level I designation will result in more lives being saved.
The trauma center will include around-the-clock coverage and prompt availability of specialists, while also conducting research.
