Supporters, few protesters show for VP Pence in Colorado Springs

It was 10:45 a.m. when Air Force Two touched down at Peterson Air Force Base. Friends and family welcomed Vice President Mike Pence as he emerged from the aircraft and hopped into the motorcade.

While the wheels touched down, the signs went up for Carrie Peterson and her son, who aren’t in favor of some of this administration’s actions.

“I’m out here first of all to voice my opposition to the recent bombing of Syria, and what better opportunity then when Vice President Pence is in town,” said Peterson.

Peterson and her son were significantly outnumbered by Pence’s supporters. Guests inside the Broadmoor during Pence’s speech told us they were excited about what he had to say.

“It was very impressive and very interesting. There was good content and focus on space by what sounds to be the administration,” said Spencer Schmidt.

Pence spoke about improving technology and returning to the moon to harvest resources, among other topics on the future of space travel for the U.S.

Vice President Pence’s motorcade left around 1:20 p.m.
