More Wind and Fire Danger Ahead 4-16-18
TONIGHT: Skies remain partly cloudy overnight with winds relaxing. Lows stay on the mild side in the 40s.
TOMORROW: Tuesday is a Level 2 Wind Alert day as high winds return causing extreme fire weather conditions. A High Wind Warning is in effect for tomorrow with gusts to the 50s and 60s. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for extreme fire danger. Temps will be a little cooler, with highs in the 50s and 60s. A few places on the Eastern Plains will still get to the 70s and low 80s.
EXTENDED: Winds begin to die down some by Wednesday, lowering the fire danger. Highs stay in the 50s and 60s Wednesday and Thursday. Winds become gustier again Thursday elevating the fire danger. Our next storm system begins to move in late Thursday into Friday bringing more promising moisture potential. Rain is expected Friday with some thunderstorms over the lower elevations. Snow moves over the higher terrain. More areas may see a rain/snow mix on Saturday. Temps will be a lot cooler too, in the 30s and 40s.
