Fire danger concerns – 4/16/18
TODAY: Skies will be partly cloudy today and winds will be on the increase. A level 1 wind alert is in place today due to gusts in the 30s. This is coming with high fire danger, so red flag warnings are also out across Southern Colorado through 8PM tonight. The warmth will be widespread as highs warm into the 70s and 80s.
TONIGHT: Times of breezy skies continue tonight and overnight lows cool to the 30s and 40s.
EXTENDED: Tomorrow’s fire danger will be extreme as winds could gust to near 60 at times. That being said, a wind alert level 2 is out along with red flags for those southern half of the state. These will be in place from 10am until 8pm. Winds this high will not only spread fire, but also could create damage and overturn a high profile vehicle. Take caution if you have to be out and about. Wednesday will be a quiet day before we could see more winds return on Thursday. A strong spring system moves in Friday and Saturday, which brings cooler highs, strong winds and the potential for accumulating snow. Stay with KRDO for the latest as this storm develops!
