Funeral for fallen Thunderbird pilot scheduled for Sunday

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have announced the funeral for fallen pilot Maj. Stephen “Cajun” Del Bagno.

The squadron posted on their Facebook page Friday night Del Bagno will have a public funeral at 4:44 p.m. Sunday.

The service is set to take place at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, Calif.

The post said Del Bagno will receive “full military honors, including a 21-gun salute, taps and a flyover of F-35 Lightning IIs and F-16 Fighting Falcons.”

Del Bagno was new to the Thunderbirds team this year, and was Thunderbird No. 4, the slot pilot for the team.

Del Bagno was killed when his F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed during a routine training flight over the Nevada Test and Training Range Wednesday April 4.
