High Wind and Fire Danger 4-11-18

TONIGHT: Winds remain breezy overnight keeping temperatures mild with lows mainly in the 40s. Skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy.

TOMORROW: Highs winds arrive in Southern Colorado tomorrow with gusts in excess of 50 mph. A Wind Alert Level 2 is in effect for the high winds as we’re tracking Highs Wind Warnings for the San Luis Valley and from El Paso County to the New Mexico line. It is also a day of extreme fire danger due to the high winds and low relative humidity. A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 AM to 9 PM. Skies will continue to be mostly sunny with highs returning to the 70s and 80s.

EXTENDED: High winds continue into Friday as southwest winds become more northerly ushering in a much cooler airmass. A Level 2 Wind Alert is in effect for Friday too with additional High Wind Warnings, this time including much of the Plains. Colder air arrives dropping temps to the 30s and 40s and bringing in scattered rain and snow chances Friday. Northerly winds may keep many places dry so we will continue to track those shower chances closely as we need the moisture amongst this dry stretch. More wind continues Saturday but we are tracking warmer conditions again into next week.
