Fort Carson remembers Holocaust victims

6 million lives were honored on April 9th, 2018 at Fort Carson.

The Days of Remembrance event honored the victims and the liberators of the Holocaust. The Elkhorn Conference Center was filled with photos of survivors, those who lost their lives, and diary entries.

Guest speaker Todd Hennessey is an internationally recognized Holocaust educator and director. The goal of his talk? To share stories of the lives saved by military units and honor the more than six million lives lost.

“Obviously, there were a lot of horrible things that go along with this event but there were also some tremendous heroes. Of all ages, of all races, of all walks of life, that really did make a difference and one person can truly make a difference,” said Hennessey.

More than anything, Hennessey hopes the event encourages everyone to learn more about the Holocaust and mostly, never forget so that something like this never happens again.
