Mild today and windy ahead – 04/09/18

Today: It will be gorgeous across southern Colorado today! Temperatures will soar to the 40s and 50s across southern Colorado. Partly to mostly sunny skies are expected; however, some clouds could develop this afternoon with some easterly winds. Any showers this morning should gradually wind down by 9 or 10 a.m. Later this afternoon and evening, we can’t rule out some stray showers in the Pikes Peak region, but little to no impacts are expected.

Tonight: Mainly clear skies will take us into early Tuesday morning. Lows drop to the 20s and 30s.

Extended: The nicest day of the next seven days will be tomorrow, Tuesday! Temperatures reach the 60s and 70s, and we’ll have partly sunny skies and primarily light winds. This will be following by very strong winds Wednesday into Saturday. Winds will be strongest Thursday and Friday. In fact, we could be dealing with blowing dust and extreme fire danger! So while temperatures during those few days will be warm, it will be unpleasant with powerful winds. As the same area of low pressure that kicks up our winds tracks to the east by Saturday, winds start to settle down. Shower chances aren’t looking good this week. We stay mostly dry.
