Colorado Springs hosting meetings on wildfires, flash floods

The city of Colorado Springs is hosting community meetings to raise awareness and increase preparedness for wildfires and flash flooding, and the first of them is taking place this week.

Officials with the Colorado Springs fire and police departments and the office of emergency management will lead discussions on topics including a forecast for the season, reducing wildfire risk, evacuation planning, and flood mitigation.

The first meeting is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Howbert Elementary School ( MAP ).

The city is hosting another meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on May 8 at Broadmoor Elementary School. ( MAP )
