El Paso County Courthouse placed on brief lockdown due to fleeing suspect

The El Paso County Courthouse in Colorado Springs was put on lockdown Tuesday after a suspect fled from authorities inside the building.

A female suspect fled the courtroom, and so the courthouse was placed on lockdown around noon to prevent her further escape. She hasn’t been identified, but she was caught shortly after the lockdown, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

According to attorney Jeremy Loew, the woman had 10 felony convictions and had just been sentenced to four years in prison out of Divison 13 before she took off running.

Nobody was reported to be injured during the incident. It’s not known if the woman will face additional charges.
