High fire danger today – 04/02/18

Today: Buckle up for a warm – albeit windy – Monday! Strong winds and gusts possibly reaching 40-50 mph will be elevating fire danger exceptionally. Relative humidity levels could drop to single digits. When you combine winds and low humidity with dry fuels, we have Red Flag Warnings in effect from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. for just about all of southern Colorado. Use extreme caution! Temperatures today will be noticeably warmer, reaching the 70s and 80s in the lower elevations.

Tonight: We’ll have an incoming cold front blast through the area overnight. This will be kicking up the winds. It could also spark a rain/snow mix into the higher elevations of the Pikes Peak region. Partly cloudy skies are expected with lows dropping to the 20s and 30s.

Extended: Morning showers are possible tomorrow, but beyond that, we’ll be dry! Mostly sunny skies are in store for your Tuesday along with more breezes and cooler weather. Tomorrow in the eastern plains, we have Fire Weather Watches in effect. Avoid outdoor burning! Highs are back to the 60s and 70s on Wednesday. We’ll be primarily dry until this upcoming Sunday. Stick with us for the latest!
