At least 1 killed in wreck west of Cotopaxi

Colorado State Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 50 that happened Monday just west of Cotopaxi.

It’s not known exactly how many people were involved in the wreck, but CSP confirmed it was fatal and possibly involved a DUI. A CSP sergeant believed the driver would have survived the crash if a seat belt was worn, according to a tweet by the department.

No identities have been released.

Traffic was delayed near mile marker 243 (MAP) as one lane was closed, CSP said in a tweet. The highway was reopened by about 3:20 p.m.

This is a developing story, check back for details.
