YouTube firearm policy changes has content creators up in arms

From car repairs to assembling furniture, YouTube has become the go-to website for a lot of people seeking information.

But recent shootings have led to new policies on YouTube that will be filtering out firearms related clips.

YouTube’s new policies detail not allowing videos designed to sell firearms or accessories, give instructions on how to build or install a “firearm, ammunition, high capacity magazine, homemade silencers/suppressors, or certain firearms accessories.”

Some of the accessories the policy details out are bump stocks and high capacity magazines.

The policy changes have left owners of some channels quite literally up in arms.

Paul Paradis, owner of Paradise Sales said most of the videos on the platform are helpful safety tools for consumers.

“It saves the consumer a lot of money. It answers a lot of questions. It gives them a visual that you can’t get by just hearing or reading,” Paradis said.

The new YouTube policies will be enforced starting in April, but in some channels have said they’ve already deleted videos in preparation.
