Checking in on Sonny’s journey towards walking

In honor of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, we checked in on a little guy, who received a life changing surgery after we shared his story back in September.

Sonny’s wish was simple: to be able to use his legs like his siblings.

Today Sonny, loudly and proudly said, “I can walk!”

Sonny’s wish came true after viewers donated to his GoFundMe account and an anonymous donor paid the remainder of a nearly $35,000 surgery cost.

He suffers from a form of Cerebral Palsy that affects his nerves and leg muscles. Five months after his spinal surgery, Sonny can go up the stairs, play ball, and most importantly stand flat on his feet! He’s come such a long way!
His mother says bringing awareness and donating makes a difference in many families’ lives.

“It may help someone get a walker that they need or therapy that they need or transportation to an appointment that they need to go to, you know? Research. Just a ton of different avenues,” says Shannon Burgos.

Sonny’s GoFundMe has completed but if you want to make a difference you can donate HERE.
