Midway Ranch residents respond to Army admitting fault in Carson Midway fire

It’s been just over a week since Midway Ranch residents were evacuated after the Carson-Midway fire erupted, burning 3,300 acres.

Today, Fort Carson took responsibility for starting the fire after a live fire training practice. Their statement said, “live-fire training started a fire March 16 that burned roughly 400 acres on post and another 2,900 acres off post.”

The training raised criticism from nearby neighbors who suffered damages as a result of the fire.

Antoinette Strickland, a Midway Ranch resident said, “training has been going on every day since we’ve been back. It’s like they threw their middle finger up to us.”

Although, another neighbor said she feels the opposite. Autumn Diamond told KRDO, “I’d rather have my house burn down and soldiers come home than thousands of calls to families saying their spouses and children are not coming home.”

Anyone who suffered damages is urged to file a claim here.
