Fort Carson aviation brigade deploying to Germany this year

At a news conference following the Carson Midway fire earlier this month, a Fort Carson official alluded to an additional, unannounced deployment that troops were training for; and we wanted to know more.

The Mountain Post told KRDO that the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade will deploy to Germany later this year.

The brigade includes about 2,000 soldiers and many types of aircraft, including Blackhawk, Apache, and Chinook helicopters. However, we don’t know exactly how many troops will be deployed.

An exact timeframe wasn’t given, with post officials only saying the deployment would happen in 2018, possibly in the late summer. Details on the brigade’s mission weren’t released.

We expect to learn more about the deployment over the next few days.
