Warm Tonight, Windy Tomorrow 3-22-18

TONIGHT: Staying warm tonight with lows in the 30s and 40s due to partly to mostly cloudy skies and stronger winds. Winds become quite gusty along the eastern mountains by the early morning. Gusts between 45-55 will be possible. Snow continues moving into the High Country.

TOMORROW: Red Flag Warnings are in place across Southern Colorado while Winter Weather Advisories are posted for the High Country. Snow accumulations plus blowing and drifting snow will make travel to the Continental Divide difficult Friday. A few isolated showers may make it to the eastern mountains, but the lower elevations stay dry. A Wind Alert Level One is in effect for Southern Colorado as winds will gust above 45 mph at times throughout the day leading to critical fire danger. The Red Flag Warnings are in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM. It will be another warm day with highs in the 50s and 60s for the higher terrain and 70s and 80s for the Southeastern Plains. Skies will be mostly to partly sunny.

EXTENDED: Mild and breezy conditions last through the weekend. Saturday will be a little cooler with less wind, but enough for critical fire danger along the I-25 corridor where Fire Weather Watches are in place. Sunday is slightly warmer and still breezy with more high fire danger. The weekend stays dry but more snow moves into the High Country Monday. Many weather models have rain and snow then spreading east into parts of Southern Colorado Monday into Tuesday. This would also bring much cooler temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday. Stay tuned for updates regarding snow chances!
