Illegal marijuana plants seized during Carson Midway Fire
While fire crews were working on the Carson Midway Ranch fire on Saturday, they discovered one of the homes was a marijuana grow operation.
Members of Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Rural Enforcement Outreach Unit executed the search warrant around 6 p.m. Saturday and seized more than 100 illegal cannabis plants.
“We believe it is a residence that is occupied,” said Natalie Sosa, with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office says the plants were in the flowering stage and ready to harvest.
“I don’t think people should be doing that out here,” said Maria Acosta, a neighbor living down the street. “There was quite a few, but that didn’t surprise us.”
Officials say no arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
Below, are pictures of the seized plants.
