New Chick-fil-A opening in Colorado Springs

By now you’ve probably heard that any time a Chick-fil-A opens a new location, the lucky first patrons get free meals for a year — it’s true, and customers were given their chance at the opening of Colorado Springs’ newest location this week. However some changes were made for this grand opening.

The popular chicken joint opened at 6 a.m. Thursday at 1620 S. Nevada Ave. ( MAP ) Customers are normally allowed to stand in line 24 hours in advance of the opening. The first 100 customers then receive free Chick-fil-A for a year when the restaurant opens its doors.

Due to a dangerous hostage situation earlier in the week at a nearby motel and other safety concerns about allowing people to wait in line overnight, Chick-fil-A announced on its website that it was changing the time of the promotion from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

In addition to the opening, the store’s operator is hosting a children’s book drive to donate to Reach Out and Read.
