More Warmth, Wind and Fire Danger Ahead 3-14-18

TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly clear this evening with temps falling to the 30s and some 40s. Lows remain above average as winds increase in spots overnight.

TOMORROW: The warmth from Wednesday continues Thursday but with more wind. Gusty winds over 30 mph means we have a Wind Alert Level One in effect. Gusty winds and low relative humidity increase the fire danger so Red Flag Warnings start at noon and end at 8 PM. These exclude Teller, El Paso and Fremont counties at this time but fire danger still remains elevated in these locations. The winds pick up ahead of a low pressure system that will move in late bringing chances for flurries and sprinkles, mainly for the higher terrain and parts of the plains. Wind gusts become very strong overnight Thursday.

EXTENDED: Fire Weather Watches are already out for Friday with the continuation of warmth, low humidity and gusty winds. Fire danger and periods of wind will continue through the weekend, but temperatures will drop some. Highs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday cool back to the 40s and 50s. The start of next week looks dry with cooler temps.
