Colorado Springs police looking for ATM skimming suspect

Colorado Springs police say they’re looking for a man who attempted to install a card skimmer on an ATM this weekend.

It happened at about 6:50 a.m. Saturday at an Ent Credit Union, though police don’t say which location. The effort failed, police said, because the ATM’s security system detected the device and shut the system down as a precaution.

ATM skimmers are devices that read customers’ card information, and they’re often placed in conjunction with a camera to read customers’ PINs. In this instance, police said, the suspect ended up leaving the device behind when the system shut down.

CSPD needs your help finding the suspect, and surveillance cameras captured pictures of him and his vehicle. The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-to-late 20s with dark hair, mustache, and a beard.

If you have information about the suspect, call CSPD at 719-444-7000.
