Vigil marks one year since murder of two El Paso County teenagers

Family and friends of two murdered teens gathered to remember them on Monday night.

March 12th marks one year since the bodies of Derek Greer and Natalie Partida were found along Old Pueblo Road in south El Paso County.

On Monday, dozens of balloons were released at a ceremony they called an “Angel-versary.”

It was held at the exact spot the two teens were brutally killed one year ago to the day.

The area is now marked by two crosses with their names.

As memories were shared, it was a reminder of what was taken from all of those who attended, and especially the families of the victims.

“You were given all this love for your child to last a lifetime and when they’re taken early, you still have all this love to give, and so where does it go? It’s still there, but you have to let it out in other ways. So I cry a lot and it’s really hard,” said Heather Ferguson, Derek Greer’s mother.

People who attended the vigil told us the focus right now is on the suspects accused of killing Derek and Natalie, and making sure they get justice in this case.
