UPDATE: More human remains, clothing and backpack found during search in Teller County

UPDATE: Teller County Investigators said more remains, clothing and a backpack were found during the search Sunday morning. Investigators were assisted by the Colorado Forensic Canines. Sunday marks day three of the search.

ORIGINAL STORY:
An investigation is underway after human remains were found in Teller County Friday night.

A person hiking found the skull in an area near the Catamount Reservoir between Woodland Park and Divide at around 5 p.m.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said the remains appeared to have been there quite some time.

Deputies have secured a large scene where the human skull and other bone fragments were found. The Teller County Sheriff’s Office said they’ll hold the scene overnight Friday and pick up the investigation Saturday morning.

“It’s going to take us a while to process this scene. Maybe all day, it may take a couple of days, it just depends on, in the daylight hours what we see when we start looking around,” Cmdr. Greg Couch said.

CBI will be called out to assist in the investigation and the area will remain closed to the public as they comb through it.

The Teller County Sheriff’s Office did say a woman has been missing in the area since September, however said it is too early to tell who the remains might belong to.
