‘Colorado Carpenters’ and other advocates demand action after fatal construction fire

The group Colorado Carpenters, the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters and other community advocates say the fatal fire on March 7, at a construction site could have been prevented.

There were 50 construction workers working inside a building near Downtown Denver, when the building caught fire and engulfed the construction site in flames. Two people were killed in the blaze and at least six people were injured.

Colorado Carpenters say the deaths and injuries were foreseeable and are demanding action. The group along with other advocates are holding a rally this Friday at the Emerson Place Apartments, which is close to where the fire happened in Denver.

The rally and press conference will begin at 9 a.m. the advocates will discuss the dangerous and in the Colorado construction industry.
