Fremont County Sheriff’s Office undersheriff resigns

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office’s undersheriff submitted a letter of resignation on Wednesday, according to our partners at The Pueblo Chieftain.

Ty Martin is the second command to Sheriff Jim Beicker, who confirmed the resignation on Thursday.

This comes on the heels of 10 Fremont County Sheriff’s Office employees being placed on administrative leave in the last 14 months.

Of those 10, five no longer work at the Sheriff’s Office, and one is on administrative leave amid a child abuse investigation. The last four have returned to duty.

Martin began his career in Fremont County as a detention deputy at the jail in March of 1997. It wasn’t until 2002 that he started serving as undersheriff.

Now it is up to Sheriff Beicker to decide who will replace Martin.
