2 arrested in standoff on Piute Drive in Colorado Springs

In a quiet, dark neighborhood just off of Piute Drive, red flashing lights lit up the night sky Saturday evening.

El Paso County deputies responded to the call of multiple people fighting in the street. When they arrived, two suspects barricaded themselves inside a home. Law enforcement used a megaphone warning the people inside to come out with their hands up.

Inside the trailer home was Austin Greenslit. Jacqueline Kirby, media relations manager with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says he was known to be hostile toward deputies in the past.

That prompted responders on scene to call in their SWAT team to take over the situation.

Another suspect, Rick Gaudineer was also arrested for his involvement. He originally identified himself as Cody Greenslit, Austin’s brother. It wasn’t until after he was booked into jail that his fingerprints revealed he was in fact Gaudineer. He is also facing non-extraditable felony criminal charges in Iowa.

Most neighbors in the area didn’t open their doors on Monday morning, but one neighbor who asked to stay anonymous said she was surprised to see this happening in her community. She said, “They just blocked off that street but it being so close you are like ‘what in the world?'”

Two women and two children were also inside the house but came out peacefully. The El Paso County Sheriff’s office says they found an illegal marijuana grow and the suspects are facing multiple felony charges.
