Fire damages outbuildings, vehicles in Pueblo County
A fire damaged several outbuildings and dozens of vehicles in Pueblo County Saturday night.
The fire is on a property in the 2200-block of Fallview. The assistant fire chief for Pueblo Rural Fire says between 40 and 50 vehicles caught on fire. The victim is said to be a car collector and estimates about $100,000 worth of damage was done.
Officials say the fire was caused by a neighbor burning weeds in their backyard that quickly got out of control. Since it was a red flag day, they may face charges by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
It took fire crews two hours to control the flames. Two homes were evacuated and one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Crews had to use half a mile worth of hose to get water to the area because there were no nearby fire hydrants.
