Woodland Park students return to school after threat

Students are returning to school in Woodland Park Friday just days after a credible threat was made to the district.

“We take every threat seriously,” said Stacy Schubloom, public relations manager for the district. “After the Florida shooting we cannot be too careful and the safety and security of our staff and students is our top priority.”

This comes after days of law enforcement officers working to ensure it was safe for students to come back.

Many were in favor of students returning.

One resident said, “I’m in awe of those young adults.”

Others were skeptical.

Another man told us, “We decided that it was deemed a credible threat and no one was ever brought up to who made the threat so we decided it would be important that our kids stay home until Monday so nothing played out.”

Increased security was seen on campuses. The investigation is ongoing and a reward is being offered to anyone who has information about this threat.
