Colorado woman charged with murder in brother’s death

Authorities say a woman charged with murder may have killed her brother to gain control of a western Colorado ranch that’s worth millions of dollars.

The Denver Post reports 33-year-old Stephanie Jackson was arrested Wednesday. She has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with a corpse for the death of her brother Jacob Henry Millison.

Gunnison County Undersheriff Mark Mykol says Millison’s death is related to the 700-acre ranch in Quartz Creek Valley.

Friends reported Millison missing in May 2015. Authorities later found his body on the property.

Mykol declined to give Millison’s cause of death, citing the ongoing investigation.

Jackson is being held on $500,000 bond. Booking documents do not indicate if Jackson has hired an attorney.
